An important meeting was held with the chief advisor to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to ensure safe, orderly and regular migration of Bangladeshi migrants. The meeting discussed in detail the issues of labor markets, prevention of human trafficking, and sending skilled workers between the two countries.
The Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said, “Skilled and trained workers from Bangladesh are contributing to Italy. We want this migration process to be safer and more transparent, so that both countries benefit.”
Senior officials from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment were present at the meeting on behalf of the Bangladesh government. They said the Bangladesh government has already taken several steps to streamline the immigration process, including pre-training, skills testing, and emphasis on immigration through legal channels.
The meeting also discussed joint efforts to prevent human trafficking, updating bilateral agreements of understanding, and protecting workers’ rights.
It is worth noting that Italy is one of the main destinations for Bangladeshi immigrants in Europe. Currently, thousands of Bangladeshis are legally working in Italy and play an important role in the country’s economy.
Those concerned have expressed hope that such high-level discussions between Bangladesh and Italy will make the immigration system more humane and effective in the future.
